SPORTS ACHIEVEMENTS OF UZBEK FENCERS

In order to provide the implementation of the resolution of the head of state of our government of 9 March, 2017 about preparation of sportsmen of Uzbekistan to XXXII Olympic and XVI Paralympic games in 2020 in Tokyo, the Fencing Federation of Uzbekistan performs sequential operation on selection of talented sportsmen and formation of the national teams on fencing, organization of educational- training meetings of sportsmen in our country and abroad, ensuring of their worthy participation in prestigious competitions.

Favorable conditions are created for increase of the expertise of the fencers. According to the recommendation of the coaching council the decision on all year round trainings ingenuously in Tashkent has been made for intensive trainings of national teams on rapier, sword and sabre.

It is also appropriate to note, that starting from 2017 the national team on sabre holds cooperative educational –training meetings in Novosibirsk (Russia). Novosibirsk school of fencing is considered as one of the leading in the world. Absolutely, today the Novosibirsk sportsmen-fencers such as Ivan Ilyin (Winner of the Junior Olympics 2014), Yuliya Gavrilova (Olympic Champion of 2016), Alina Mikhaylova, Anastasiya Shorokhova, Valeriya Kobzeva (Champions squad of the World Cup in Tashkent), and many other strongest sportsmen deserve recognition. Collaborative meetings give the opportunity to increase the skill level within the short period of time by fencing with the strongest fencers. The proof for the set forth could be the samples – final contest at the World Cup among junior girls (finals – national teams of Russia and Uzbekistan), which was held in Tashkent.

Also in such training meetings, coaches will have the opportunity to realistically assess the technical and tactical training of each athlete.

According to the  calendar plan in the period in December of the current year, the members of the Uzbekistan team on sabre consisting of Dj. Dushanbayeva, B. Rasulov, P. Genjabayev, Sh. Mamutova, Z. Dayibekova, Sh. Togaymuratova, V. Isroilova, S. Khudatbergenova, A. Ustandinova, S. Ismailova and the coach Aleksandre Zhitetsko were sent to  Novosibirsk city to conduct the regular educational –training meetings, also they were invited to participate at the International tournament for the prize of the four-fold Olympic champion Stanislav Pozdnyakov, which was held on 21 and 22 of December.

            So, about 250 young sabre fencers took part at this tournament.  Applications for participation were submitted by teams from 15 Russian regions - these are the Altai and Tatarstan republics, the Perm and Khabarovsk regions, the Vologda, Kaluga, Kemerovo, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Saratov and Chelyabinsk regions, Moscow and St. Petersburg, Uzbekistan, and also from Kazakhstan.

It should be noted, that “Pozdnakov’s prize” is the stage in the system of selection of young sportsmen for participation in the Europe and world championships. As Stanislav Pozdnakov points out –at the present tournament not only individual, but also team competitions are held so that maximum number of kids, who could not pass to the main finals, could at least get more combat, competitive experience above all, which will help them to feel themselves confident in the future.

            For the first time such startups were held in 2007 by the initiative of the Fencing Federation of Russia, which became their co-  organizer. Since then they were held annually at the sports grounds of Novosibirsk, Berdsk, Barnaul and Omsk. In addition, in 2014, the schedule was somewhat compressed: the eighth tournament for Stanislav Pozdnyakov's prizes took place in January in Berdsk, and the ninth in December of the same year was hosted by Omsk. Thus, the next competition will be the thirteenth in a row.

 

The sabre fencers of the Moskow CSKA and the national team of Uzbekistan came out to the fencing piste at the tournament of the young boys and girls in the big game. Uzbek fencers have set the pace to the contest at the first onset. After seven fights they were leading with – 35:27.

Thus, in the team competitions on sabre among girls, Novosibirsk fencers became the best, and among youngsters, the gold medals went to the Uzbekistan fencers.

Moscovite Ivan Tsipin, outgaming Djaloliddin Dushamboyev with– 11:5, brought down the score until two hits and has returned the intrigue to the meeting. However, in the final battle, where two bronze winners of the individual competitions Sherzod Mamutov and Egor Kovalev met, Uzbek sabre fencer appeared to be stronger scoring– 5:3. The final score was – 45:41 in the favor of the national team of Uzbekistan.

— It is pleasant that all the members of our national team have participated at the International tournament for Stanisolav Pozdnakov’s Prize with dignity — said Aleksandr Zhitetskiy, the coach on sabre of the national team of Uzbekistan. 133 athletes participated at the satellite tournament among men. And the most pleasant is that Uzbek fencer Sherzod Mamatov became the owner of the bronze medal and got the 3rd place at the podium. Zaynab Dayibekova got 7th place among 97 participant-girls.

And we in turn are happy for the sports achievements of our fencers. Good job!
